In his e-mail, he summarized the points as follows:
1. Bush used a speech in a foreign country for domestic political gain. He
falsely accused Obama of advocating appeasement.
2. he used the bible to claim that Israel had a divine right to exist.
3. I compared the Jewish immigration to Palestine to the European
immigration to America with similar results. Both killed or drove out the
native people.
4. US foreign policy toward Israel must take into account the Palestinians.
Here is the answer I sent to him:
Dear Norbert,
...
Let’s use the points you give regarding your column.
>>1. Bush used a speech in a foreign country for domestic political gain.<<
I usually do not pay much attention to such speeches – they are no more than pro forma. However, I really liked this one. Do you know why? Because this is not simply a speech of congratulating a foreign country on the event of her birthday. This is an ideological statement. And this is what our conservatives need badly. Conservative leaders do not produce much of an assertive ideology, while the Left-wingers have been preaching theirs in places much less appropriate than a foreign country – our schools and universities – for decades, poisoning the minds of our children with hatred toward this country and the cancer of political correctness.
>> 2. he used the bible to claim that Israel had a divine right to exist. <<
The last I’ve checked, the Christian church still does believe in the Bible. And the right of Israel to exist and the right of Jews to the Land is very clearly stated in there. I understand that you are a Christian – I do not see why do you have a problem with this issue.
>> 3. I compared the Jewish immigration to Palestine to the European
immigration to America with similar results. Both killed or drove out the
native people. <<
Yes, you did. It appears to me that you hate the American pioneers and settlers no less than you hate the Israeli halutzim and mitnahalim. So, what can I say? Mr. Bush is right when he says that Israel and the U.S.A. are in the same boat. Those who hate Israel also hate this country.
>> 4. US foreign policy toward Israel must take into account the Palestinians. <<
The so called “Palestinian people” is an artificial construct which was created by the Arabs to destroy Israel when they realized that it would not be possible to do it by direct military means. The Arab nations are willingly refusing to assume the responsibility for these people, so that their situation can be exploited here in the Western countries and so that the so called “Palestinians” could attack Israel with relative impunity – since they are an entity which is not formally a state. Moreover, had the Arabs accepted the UN partition plan in 1947, they would have a country there much bigger than the Gaza, Judea, and Samaria. But they refused, they said the conflict would be resolved by force – and so they should not complain about the results.
Overall, I very much liked the President Bush’s speech. It is sad that his second term is almost over. George W. Bush is often under-appreciated by the conservatives, and the vicious hatred toward him from the Left is a good sign that he is the right person for the job.
Dear Norbert, you position yourself as a person who abhors violence. The truth is though that you protest only violence by the United States of America and Israel, nobody else. You did not care about the violence of the USSR in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Afghanistan. You never cared to protest the Arab violence against the Jews of Israel and their open intentions to destroy Israel in the 1967 and 1973 wars. Today, you do not protest the Arab rockets falling on Israeli cities. I briefly checked the list of your columns – and I found no protest against the slaughtering of millions of Christians in Africa. You did not protest when Arabs took Jewish hostages from the Air France plane in 1976. You wrote one article about Iran – but you did not bother to mention the constant threats by that country to destroy Israel. You do not even seem to care that Iranians hang homosexuals – perhaps because you can forgive everything for their anti-Semitism, just like you are prepared to discount the Bible if it speaks favorably about the Jewish right to the Land of Israel. You are always blaming the USA and one single foreign country – Israel. So, your presented promotion of non-violence is simply a weapon against these two countries, whose proverbial hands you are trying to tie up.
...
Sincerely,
George
