There was a famous scene in Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis... ooops! - and the Raiders of the Lost Arc, of course. :) Harrison Ford is running around the marketplace, then a huge Arab brandishing a huge sword starts playing with his weapon in what should be a scary ritualistic prelude to the upcoming certain destruction of Jones. Jones looks at him for a moment, with an annoyed expression on his face, then draws his gun, shoots the swordsman matter-of-factly, and goes on about his business.

I find the whole scene to be highly symbolic, on a number of levels. In a way, it holds a key to understanding certain very significant features of the Western civilization and the reasons for its success.

Fast forward to the Last Jedi. Chewie is about to eat a rosted porg. And other porgs, those cute little creatures, see this and, instead of running (flying) for their lives (they are not a type that would be successful in fighting him anyway), stare at Chewbacca in oh-so-cute-and-innocent-and-calling-to-his-conscience way. And Chewbacca, who is not very young and who is apparently quite accustomed to hunting, suddenly turns and - what? Becomes a vegetarian? In any case, he does not eat the roast, he becomes very ashamed, and he loves porgs from now on, allowing them to inhabit his ship, etc. And this, of course, is the way that the left (including Hollywood) want us to act towards aggression and danger. They want us to be porgs who lost even the last shreds of their self-preservation instinct, who believe that you can shame those who would eat you into being nice to you, etc.

A couple of bonus points:

(a) God had an interesting sense of humor. I am sure the swordsman scene _had_ to be done this way, but the apparent reason it came out like this was Harrison Ford's diarrhea :)

(b) I remember the critique of that swordsman scene in the Soviet press. It was more or less what you would expect from our modern-day "progressives". Well, what do you want - "social justice" was one of the main topics in the Soviet Union ideological narrative.
