Once again, the "progressives" tell us that this country is a pile of crap, that 4th of July is time to protest. They really want to destroy ANYTHING that unites us. They cite instances like:

<< The most famous abolitionist July 4 protest took place in 1854, when Garrison mounted a platform adorned with an upside-down, black-bordered American flag and burned a copy of the Constitution. >>

<< For the better part of the 19th century, many groups in addition to abolitionists, in...cluding Native Americans, utopian socialists, women’s suffragists and industrial workers, chose to use the Fourth of July as an occasion for social-justice agitation. >>

<< Peace activists during the Vietnam War, for example, seized the day for fasts and demonstrations. In 1970, a committee of African-American churchmen urged the black community across the country not to participate in any festivities on July 4. >>

<< ...the rallies and “die-ins” staged during the July 4 Senate recess last year, protesting efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act... >>

Oh, sure enough, they tell us that their goal is just to hold this country to its oun standards, but it is just a BS. Their attitude toward the US is spelled out pretty clearly in this very article.

<< July 4 commemorates a protest so incendiary that its participants, the signers of the Declaration of Independence, risked execution as traitors to the crown >>

It is hard for me to understand anybody who _sincerely_ believes that it is the right who want to divide our society.

<< In U.S., Record-Low 47% Extremely Proud to Be American >>
[and the gap between the left and the right has grown tremendously]

<< Currently, 32% of Democrats -- down from 43% in 2017 and 56% in 2013 -- are extremely proud. The decline preceded the election of Donald Trump but has accelerated in the past year.
.....
Political liberals are even less likely than Democrats to say they are extremely proud -- just 23% do so, compared with 46% of moderates and 65% of conservatives. Extreme pride among liberals has dropped nine points in the past year and 28 points since 2013. >> [once again, "liberals" is a huge misnomer here]
